However, we do not believe that a single railway area based simply on deregulation and competition can solve the problems that we are facing. Bad examples of overly severe deregulation of railways in Sweden and other countries, for example, demonstrate this. We do not believe that a further opening up of the domestic rail passenger market, for example, will benefit Europe. What Sweden and other European countries need are increased investments in infrastructure and a common approach to travellers.
