lpv:translated text	"Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, last week’s meeting demonstrates once again that EU leaders only take decisions when they have a knife held to their throat. In many ways, we could say that last week’s decision paves the way for a positive development in which those countries with economic problems will have time to adjust. That is all very well. At the same time, the meeting left a number of open questions that have also been discussed here in the Chamber today, and it is clear that there are those who choose to interpret the meeting’s decision in a way that will come across as opportune to their home public. This is understandable for political reasons, but it is regrettable all the same. For example, it has been implied that an agreement has been reached to the effect that the rescue fund is later to operate on the so-called secondary bond market. As far as I understand, this is not the case. If it were the case, it would certainly be stated very clearly in the minutes of the meeting, and it is not. With an eye to the future, I believe that it is wise to stick to what we have actually agreed and not make a whole lot of digressions and interpretations, as this will only lead to those countries that are already standing there with their purses open distancing themselves even more from the decisions, and that is not desirable in a situation in which we are making joint sacrifices in order to get ourselves out of this difficult economic situation. Mr President, I would also like to take the opportunity to thank my fellow Members for their excellent cooperation. This will be my last speech here in plenary, as I am leaving Parliament.
