I fully back the report as submitted, despite being one of those who often criticise unnecessary regulations in the EU as such, but water really is an environmental issue that must be approached from a European perspective. It is not just a European issue, but a global issue. I also support most of the motions for amendment as submitted and, of course, I also support the view that soil quality is related to water quality. In this context, I would like to oppose the amendment which proposes ending subsidiarity at European level, and I hope that my entire political group will vote to retain subsidiarity in this area."@en1
