"Mr President, in support of the proposal made by Mr Weber, I would like to give some details for further clarification of the reasons why we are requesting this debate. The Constitutional Court has ruled that it is the country’s President who should represent Romania in the European Council, and another person can only represent Romania if so empowered by the country’s President. This is exactly what the current Prime Minister has avoided doing: seek such empowerment from the country’s President.
Moreover, the present government agrees with the Constitutional Court and praises it whenever it rules according to its interests, while, should the Constitutional Court’s decisions adversely affect its case, it publicly criticises them, which is practically an attack against the rule of law, committed particularly by the representatives of this government."@en1
