lpv:translated text	"I voted for this motion for a resolution on female genital mutilation. Female genital mutilation is a barbaric act of extreme violence against children, young people and women, and a violation of fundamental rights and the rights of the child that cannot be justified by any tradition or religion. We therefore urge the United Nations Assembly General and the EU Member States to make a commitment to banning all forms of female genital mutilation and imposing effective sanctions on perpetrators. I would also stress the importance of mobilising civil society and national, regional and local authorities, and raising awareness of the risks and consequences of female genital mutilation, in order to eradicate such practices."@en1
