"This motion for a resolution contains many points which I support. I agree that the Commission should support Member States in their fight against unemployment and youth unemployment by using any money remaining under the Structural Funds. I also support the promotion of entrepreneurship, business start-ups and self-employment, in particular since SMEs and microenterprises provide over two thirds of the EU’s private sector jobs. Nevertheless, like my group, I have reservations about the idea behind implementing the European Youth Guarantee, which is to be legally enforceable. I am aware of the enormous problem of youth unemployment, but this provision is too drastic and is another example of the EU interfering in matters which fall under the competence of the Member States."@en1
