In addition, we strongly support the fight against tax evasion and tax avoidance on both national and European levels, but nonetheless we voted against amendment 8 because of what it says about coordinating taxation policies. Taxation is a national competence and the European Commission and the European Parliament must respect that. A common consolidated corporate tax system would not do anything for the functioning of the single market and could even adversely affect small open economies like Ireland."@en1
