"I am voting for this joint resolution, as it takes the view that respect for human rights and freedom of culture, identity, religion and association are the founding principles of the EU and its external policy. It is clear today that EU-China dialogue on human rights has not led to significant improvement in the human rights situation of the Tibetan people, so this resolution comes at an opportune moment. In this regard, I would like to emphasise that EU-China partnerships should always take into account the values and principles that the EU advocates in its external policy, and efforts should be redoubled to address the human rights situation in China."@en1
