The re-election of Joseph Kabila in the elections on 28 November 2011 and the opposition’s subsequent contesting of the results led to severe clashes and serious cases of violence. Since then, the situation in the country has been very unstable. The continued human rights violations and the humanitarian situation are even more worrying, meaning there is an urgent need for a transparent process of democratisation involving all parties."@en1
