"We have often denounced the self-serving view of human rights that increasingly dominates EU policy in this regard. The creation of an EU Special Representative for Human Rights is inseparably bound up with this process. Appointing a face for this policy will make it more visible, but it will not eradicate its weaknesses, contradictions and inconsistencies. Unfortunately, it has more to do with defending the EU’s economic and geostrategic interests – or rather, those of its major powers and their big companies – in the world than with genuinely defending human rights. We did not vote for this report."@en1
