I welcome the appointment of an EU Special Representative for Human Rights to ensure the continuation, effectiveness and visibility of EU external action in the promotion of human rights and democracy. The establishment of this position should significantly improve communication between the different organisations responsible for protecting human rights, presenting a single EU policy on human rights. The appointment of this representative would help foster the EU’s fundamental democratic principles."@en1
