lpv:translated text	"I welcomed this document because, given the importance of the historical and cultural links, the trade agreement between the European Union and Colombia and Peru aims to open markets for goods, services, government procurement and investment and to promote economic integration between the parties and comprehensive economic development with the objective of reducing poverty, creating new employment opportunities, improving working conditions and raising living standards by liberalising and expanding trade and investment between their territories, as well as encouraging a commitment to implement the trade agreement in accordance with the objective of sustainable development, including the promotion of economic progress, respect for labour rights and protection of the environment, in accordance with the international commitments adopted by the parties. I welcome the commitment expressed by all the parties involved to the promotion of human rights, democratic principles and the rule of law, as confirmed by the inclusion in the first article of the trade agreement of extensive and binding provisions on these fundamental principles."@en1
