lpv:translated text	"In September 2011, the European Commission presented a communication on security of energy supply and international cooperation entitled ‘The EU energy policy: engaging with partners beyond our borders’. I am voting for this report, as I believe that the EU must adopt a strong and effective position on the international stage, ensuring the energy it needs for the economic activities in which it is engaged. At a time when Europe imports more than 60% of the gas and more than 80% of the oil that it consumes, better internal coordination and efficient cooperation with its various international partners is important. In order to increase energy sustainability and reduce Europe’s dependency on certain international actors, I consider it important to diversify suppliers and sources of energy supply to the EU and it will also be necessary to promote new forms of energy exploitation, with a special emphasis on renewable energies."@en1
