"It is vital during a time of decreasing fuel supplies which entails sensitive inter-country negotiation on the share of resources that nations may act independently to decide how best to sustain energy security domestically. The EU now controls all aspects of UK energy policy, taking away our independence in this most vital of areas, from the imposition of nuclear safety rules and the formation and regulation of new energy trade partners. Fuel is as important to the preservation of society and the economy as food supply and thus has the ability to expose importing countries to hard bargaining from those countries with resources to share. The Commission wishes to be involved in the energy negotiations of all Member States with third countries, which is clearly against the principle of subsidiarity."@en1
