"Mr President, based on the excellent material prepared by the Commission, we are discussing a very good report right now. In the context of resource efficiency, I would primarily like to point out the matter of water and waste management. 2012 is also the year of water policy review. The EU has an enormous deficit in the field of water management and water recycling compared, for example, to Israel, and I therefore find it very important that we take steps to settle the water-related problems of the Mediterranean region or Central Europe and the area between the Rivers Danube and Tisza, for that matter. As far as waste management is concerned, I agree with those who argue that depositing recyclable waste should be banned altogether. It is unfortunate that my home country, Hungary, is going against European efforts in the field of waste management. Our right-wing government has entirely abolished the country’s previous waste management system, and unfortunately, the Commission has therefore launched an infringement procedure against Hungary."@en1
