"Mr President, today, we are debating Mr Gerbrandy’s report on resource efficiency. Mr Gerbrandy has used well-turned words and phrases but, as usual, he has said nothing at all. He is talking about a paradigm shift, a recycling economy and, from a lifecycle perspective, he wants to push resource efficiency towards a more ambitious agenda.
Mr President, I have no idea in which direction Mr Gerbrandy wants to push this agenda, but one thing is clear: this is going to make money for his environment friends. A lot of money, and we call that political clientelism, pure and simple. Plus, he is talking about a landfill tax, a waste hierarchy and a European external policy on waste, including waste
. Does that mean Baroness Ashton will soon personally start monitoring how Member States manage their waste? It cannot get more crazy than this.
Let me make it clear that the Dutch Party for Freedom (PPV) is in favour of rational use of raw materials, but every right-thinking person has long been in favour of that. That is why we do not need Mr Gerbrandy’s idiotic proposals. What should we do with this nonsensical report? Suddenly, it came to me. Mr Gerbrandy is talking about a strict end-of-waste criterion. Well, this report by him will surely meet that criterion. I am now going to push it in the direction of waste recycling and add it to this cylindrical archive. Duly noted."@en1
