"Mr President, I will not repeat what has already been said on the territorial dispute and on the energy issue at the root of the conflict. The result is that an agreed separation between the two States, recognised by the international community, is degenerating into a large-scale armed conflict. Another tragic result is that in the Blue Nile region, controlled by the Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement, Sudan is blocking humanitarian aid destined for 200 000 people.
As well as providing humanitarian aid, I would like to see Europe conducting a policy that is more committed to supporting the African Union, and not so much in opposition to the Chinese presence or influence in the area, but in order to strengthen pan-African politics and ensure that Africa belongs, a little more, to Africans. We know how great a danger there is of an economic and financial neo-colonialism in the continent."@en1
