lpv:translated text	"I voted in favour of this report. I agree that the work of the committees of inquiry should be strengthened and therefore agree with the adoption of the new regulation. When a specific task is conferred on an institution or body, the powers that are indispensable in order to carry out that task must be conferred on that body. In order to ensure that a committee’s conclusions are reasonable, it should have the right to summon any person, if necessary, including officials and other servants of the Union’s institutions or of Member States. I agree with the rapporteur that if a witness refuses to be examined or gives false testimony, he or she must be subject to sanctions. Committees of inquiry must have the necessary means for the EP to be able to exercise serious and efficient political control in line with the expectations of European citizens."@en1
