"It is time for economic relations between the European Union and China to move forward from words to actions. For this reason, I supported this report, which reminds the leaders of the People’s Republic of China of their promise to work together to create a partnership of equals based on mutual respect, friendship and trust. I therefore consider it extremely important that China end discrimination against European companies, such as the prohibition against participating in public procurement, and guarantee our companies the same conditions as those that regulate investment in Europe. It would also be in China’s own best interests if European companies were to contribute to the country’s modernisation through the introduction of new technologies, and a Europe with higher economic growth would, in turn, consume more Chinese products. All parties would benefit from a liberal and fair free market economy."@en1
