"The globalisation of the economy has led to the need to step up economic cooperation between the EU and other areas of the world. This aim needs to be pursued not only through various fundamental principles that make trade balances sustainable, although these are, of course important, but, above all, through support for the EU’s production systems, to make them more competitive on the world stage. It is therefore necessary for both the principle of legal and economic/financial reciprocity and the anti-dumping principle to always be an integral part of economic agreements, with particular reference to the fiscal and social security dimensions, so that a correct approach may be taken based on the comparative and competitive advantages of enterprises and production systems. In addition, it is necessary for the principle of reciprocity to permeate access to Chinese public procurement. Finally, the EU ought to take a more farsighted and attentive approach to investments in developing countries, made also by competing countries, such as China, in order to better evaluate the impact of these interventions in political, economic, social and environmental terms. I believe that the report we have adopted seeks to achieve these objectives."@en1
