The agreement with Mozambique is a strategic agreement, since it provides for the continuous presence of the European fishing fleet in the Indian Ocean, which may form an excellent alternative in view of the increase in piracy cases in other exclusive economic zones located further to the north. I agree with the rapporteur that the execution of this agreement is an urgent matter. I also support the appeal to the Commission and the Council to draft a report evaluating the results from application of the fisheries protocol with Mozambique, so as to provide Parliament and the Committee on Fisheries with a greater understanding of the issues."@en1
