"I abstained on the vote on this report. This is a better and improved recovery plan for the bluefin tuna, compared to the previous one. It allows for less catches and is based on the recommendations of ICCAT, taking into consideration all the scientific data available and accordingly all the necessary concrete measures (i.e. spawning areas). It would, of course, be better if no catches at all were allowed for this overfished species, but I felt this is at least a step towards better fishing practices and sustainability."@en1
