"The European internal market offers advantages to citizens and businesses on a daily basis. It is therefore important to ensure the correct transposition of EU legislation in our Member States. The internal market scoreboard is among the tools that encourage Member States to improve the quality of and deadlines for transposition of directives relating to the internal market. Another instrument, the Commission’s SOLVIT network, provides Member States with a timely and effective way of resolving problems caused by misapplication of single market rules. I therefore supported the position of the rapporteur, Simon Busuttil, and voted in favour of merging these two instruments, which is essential for the completion of the single market."@en1
