"Since the Arab Spring, the European Union has strived to promote stability and democracy in neighbouring Mediterranean countries. To support them in their transition, we believe it is important to increase trade by focusing on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). As pointed out by the rapporteur, Niccolò Rinaldi, this trade strategy could enable job creation and help to dismantle oligarchies. It is imperative that our cooperation includes financial support for SMEs through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank. We must also promote cultural and educational exchanges within the framework of the Euromed Erasmus and Da Vinci programmes. In this way, we can share our democratic values by creating a real Euro-Mediterranean Free Trade Area."@en1
