"The Commission has proposed to recast the regulation applying to the Rotterdam Convention on exchanging information on sales of chemicals sold: the Prior Informed Consent (PIC) Regulation. The main objective is for chemicals produced in the European Union that comply with all EU environmental and health legislation not to be prevented from entering markets worldwide, thereby being replaced with chemicals that observe lower quality standards. By doing this, the European Union is not just ensuring the export of its chemicals, thereby protecting the European chemical industry, but is also safeguarding a high level of environmental protection."@en1
