"I voted for this resolution because it provides additional legal clarity about chemicals, while also involving the European Chemicals Agency more in enforcing the regulation on the export and import of dangerous chemicals. I welcome the fact that a good balance has been reached on the prior informed consent procedure. At the present juncture, when 30% of chemical exports cannot be completed due to a lack of response from the importing countries, I think that the amendments tabled by the European Parliament will benefit chemicals originating from Europe on global markets, avoiding unjustified obstacles imposed by third countries. At the same time, this will further promote the European Union’s high public health and environmental standards, thereby preventing products from being replaced by some complying with lower standards in the abovementioned areas. I should also stress the importance of implementing measures for classifying, packaging and labelling chemicals, in line with Amendment 14 of Parliament’s proposal."@en1
