"We undoubtedly appreciate the planned price reduction in mobile roaming services, the cost of which nowadays is very high and unjustified. There are, however, other aspects of this draft regulation which cannot be overshadowed by this aspiration. The planned liberalisation of the sector, with the realisation of the internal market in this area, will inevitably mean supply concentration in some large transnational operators. The results of this monopoly are known in other industries and are predictable here too: price fixing and even higher prices at later stages of the process, and pressure on conditions of the sector’s workers. We would also express some concern about the increased use of radio spectrum, a hugely important and limited public asset, whose growing occupation – and domination by private interests – requires an impact assessment at various levels, which has so far been overlooked."@en1
