"Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) means that the European Union has to adapt to the new market situation – the opening up to the Russian Federation with a consequent reduction in restrictions. More specifically, the text repeals the quotas for steel imports into the European Union, as provided for by the 1997 partnership and cooperation agreement. This opening up is undoubtedly positive and, given that the rules to follow will be those set by the WTO, it will be possible to improve the European Union import-export situation."@en1
