"As an ecologist, I voted against this resolution, which prioritises the economic and geostrategic interests of a European company at the expense of the social and environmental rights of the Argentine population. Repsol has always promoted an extractivist model, disregarding all other considerations. Therefore, Argentina has every right to take a sovereign decision on the management of its resources and energy policy, even though this is not a guarantee of exemplarity in the matter. The European Union and Spain should instead commit to heavily investing their economic, political and diplomatic resources in order to promote a new energy and development model based on renewable energy and reducing the dependency on fossil fuels."@en1
