". The creation of a European Higher Education Area (EHEA) is an important means of ensuring that Europe can maintain and develop its global competitiveness. What is needed most importantly is increased mobility for students. A variety of programmes, such as Erasmus, have made a significant contribution to Europe’s current leading position in the world. Internally, programmes like this help to enhance the feeling of solidarity within Europe. Unfortunately, in many Member States the implementation of the Bologna process has resulted in many students being unwilling to include periods of study abroad in their courses. The increasing pressure to perform which is being applied by some universities in this context also makes it more difficult for students to be mobile and this is something which is very important. Therefore, in the next stages of the reform process we must give priority to ensuring that we do not make students even more unwilling to study abroad. In addition to the Commission’s programmes, we also need institutional incentives as part of the process of reforming study courses."@en1
