"The European Parliament, through its Committee on Constitutional Affairs, adopted the recommendation on the European Council’s proposal not to convene a convention for the addition of a protocol on the concerns of the Irish people regarding the Treaty of Lisbon to the Treaty on European Union and to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.
Parliament thereby consents to the European Council’s proposal not to convene a convention. In view of the fact that the Heads of State or Government at the European Council on 19 June 2009 had already agreed on the substance of the provisions proposed in the draft protocol, so that the issue has already been politically settled, I am voting for this decision as I do not believe there is any justification for convening a convention."@en1
