"Today, during the plenary session in Strasbourg, we voted on Mr Cabrnoch’s report. This report will improve the functioning of the single market by strengthening social protection for many mobile workers in the EU, such as airline crews and self-employed frontier workers. The regulation also focuses on the situation of self-employed frontier workers (an employee who returns to his home country at least once a week) regarding access to unemployment benefits. In Italy, there is no provision for unemployment benefit for self-employed workers. However, according to the text, a self-employed worker working in an EU country other than their own, who pays the contributions needed for unemployment benefit, and who returns to his country, where such financial support does not exist, would also have the right to receive the subsidy, to be paid by the last country where he/she worked. This measure would, therefore, apply to Italy."@en1
