"Mr President, when a report is introduced by a member of one’s own political group, it should be praised as a matter of course, but fortunately, this time, there are substantive reasons for doing so, and I would therefore like to commend my colleague, Mr Cabrnoch, for this report. However, I would like to remind everyone in the Chamber of the Hippocratic oath and the Latin precept
or ‘first, do no harm’. I think that in the context of this debate, we should not just be talking about workers, but also about the firms which employ these workers. During the current crisis, we need to be careful not to throw the baby out with the bathwater, and should ensure that all changes are beneficial both to employers and to workers. We need to find a happy medium on this. Otherwise, in caring for workers, we will ruin their employers, and because of this, businesses will start shedding staff."@en1
