"Mr President, being a member of the Industry Committee, I would like to make it clear that there is a life in this region beyond the energy project, and building democracy there is as important as any economic relations with the region. The European Union itself is the largest peace project. Therefore, there is a need to show in the region that peace can increase opportunities not only for the Members of the European Union, but in the region as well. Twenty years have passed since the start of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. There is a need for progress and Europe has to do more – if it does not, who will? I think the presence of the European Union, of Europeans, of European Parliamentarians there – and we have been in the region several times in the past year – has proved that there is an added value, and therefore it has to be continued. I think it is very important to the people, both men and women. Do not forget that after twenty years, there is a younger generation who do not wish to have war any more and are hoping for peace."@en1
