"The EU citizenship report highlights the important ongoing citizens’ rights issues that must be addressed by the Commission. The free movement of EU citizens is a basic right but people with disabilities, minority groups and same-sex couples are among those who continue to face obstacles when exercising this right. These barriers must be eliminated, and by voting in favour of this resolution on citizens’ rights, I join other MEPs in calling for Member States to remove these legal and practical barriers. The resolution, which has my full support, also calls for the Commission to tackle problems facing citizens in regard to access to information, electoral rights and the recognition of professional qualifications."@en1
