"EU citizens often encounter obstacles in everyday life in the European Union. These include, for example, formalities related to health care or simply in connection with registering a car in another Member State. The European Union should help eliminate the problems associated with this. Furthermore, EU citizens often are not aware of the rights to which they are entitled when in another Member State, and also they often do not know the law as it applies to fundamental consumer protection rights. Therefore, they are not satisfied as consumers.
Current legislation on the protection of consumers’ rights should be adapted and, for example, a set of common rights for travellers should be guaranteed. In some Member States, EU law is incorrectly applied in relation to the right of free movement in the Union, and burdensome administrative procedures are created by some Member States in contravention of EU law. Other important obstacles which make it difficult to work in another Member State are related to the existence of different social security systems and the lack of sufficient cooperation between national social security institutions. In relation to this, EU legislation on free movement and the provision of information to the Union’s citizens should be strictly applied."@en1
