"I voted in favour of the resolution on the European Refugee Fund 2008-2013 at second reading. I support the proposal to set up a list of priority refugees (independently of annual priorities with respect to geographic regions and nationalities): children and women, unaccompanied minors, persons with serious medical needs, survivors of violence and torture, etc. We, Members of the European Parliament, endorsed the idea that in order to encourage more Member States to take part in resettlement activity, additional financial support should be given to those participating in the resettlement programme for the first time. I support the proposal that the fixed amount for each resettled person shall be EUR 6 000 in the first calendar year, EUR 5 000 in the second and EUR 4 000 in subsequent years – the funding to be invested in the development of a sustainable resettlement programme. I urge the Council to continue the process of adoption of this important legal act."@en1
