"The Taylor report on the rules protecting air passengers was adopted by 509 votes to 20, with 53 abstentions. I welcome that. First of all, the report deals with common rules on compensation and assistance to passengers in the event of denied boarding and of cancellation or long delay of flights. It also addresses the rights of disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility when travelling by air. It also identifies the need for enhanced legal certainty, more interpretative clarity and uniform application of the regulations across the EU. Lastly, the report seeks to increase accountability and transparency, to clarify and strengthen existing rights, and to make sure they are made clear to consumers. The European Parliament is once again flying to the aid of air passengers!"@en1
