lpv:translated text	"Firstly, I should like to congratulate the rapporteur on her report. The European Investment Bank is one of the means used to support the real economy. In the midst of the credit crisis, the Bank plays an important role in efforts to revive the European economy and support growth and create jobs. That is why I should like to highlight the achievements of the European Investment Bank in 2010, such as increased lending to back European measures to support the economy. I should also like to state that I endorse the position expressed in the report, that support for small and medium-sized enterprises in the EU should be one of the basic priorities of the European Investment Bank, given that small and medium-sized enterprises are the ‘engine’ that drives the European economy and creates jobs. Finally, I should like to highlight the need for appropriate measures to be taken to ensure that the Bank maintains its excellent AAA credit rating and is subject to the same preventive supervision rules as every other credit institution. That will safeguard the Bank’s financial standing and also ensure that results are measured accurately."@en1
