"Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, this report finally indicates the biggest source of waste on the part of the European Parliament, that is having more than one place of work.
I hope that by continuing to press this button, we will soon be able to find a solution, because we no longer want to carry on being accomplices, despite ourselves, to this absurd situation. I am delighted that following my amendment, several MEPs got together and said no to two seats. To be frank, it is up to Parliament to provide the strength needed, to truly be the driving force for change.
I would like to add, though, that there is still much to be done. It is not clear, for example, how, at this time of crisis and sacrifice for all, we can spend millions of euros setting up the House of European History, a European history which today is also at great risk. We are in a European Union dominated by a single nation and backed by the Brussels bureaucracy, in which sovereign nations are now relegated to the role of subjects, forced to put up with decisions taken elsewhere, where there are very different interests. I would therefore think twice before investing public money in this scheme, as it could well end up being transformed from the House of European History into the European Union’s funeral mausoleum."@en1
