"… that I have the opportunity to participate in this debate. We are talking today about Solomon, a young man of 25, from Eritrea, who has lived through some terrible experiences. It is quite unbearable just reading the account of these events. In an age of civilisation and progress some people are being treated with excessive barbarity by their fellow human beings. Human beings are sold like mere commodities, subjected to atrocities, kidnapped, tortured and cruelly killed. Solomon successfully managed to escape his kidnappers, but he is still in danger. Hundreds, perhaps thousands of nameless people are in similar situations. They have fled the conflicts in their country, seeking asylum elsewhere, and have fallen into the hands of human traffickers. I appeal to those who can take action. Do everything you can to save the lives of these innocent people."@en1
