"Mr President, in today’s world Christians are the religious group that is subject to the greatest persecution. This is happening on many continents and it also unfortunately happening in Nigeria. We as Christians, as well as many people in this Chamber, feel solidarity, as believers in Christ, with our persecuted brothers in Nigeria. It is good that the European Parliament has spoken on this matter. A situation cannot be permitted to continue where, in the 21
century, those who are bringing Good News, the Christian message, a message of love for one’s neighbour, a message bringing all the goodness of our Christian faith, should be persecuted, killed and deprived of their rights. I would like to say today that it is not just our prayers but also our actions that are with our Christian brothers in Nigeria."@en1
