Indeed, the current economic environment made it necessary to reach a quick agreement on the crisis measures proposed by the Commission to address the lack of cofinancing by some Member States experiencing financial difficulties. I approve of the proposal to increase the maximum rate of cofinancing by ten percentage points. This is an additional guarantee of the European Fisheries Fund’s successful implementation. This agreement shows that European solidarity means more than just words. It is important to remember that the new mechanisms put in place will have no impact on the next budgetary programming period."@en1
