lpv:translated text	"In recent years, an increase in the incidence of diabetes has been noted. The problem affects a growing number of people and, in the European Union, over 32 million people suffer from the disease. These figures are disturbing, and therefore I think that an EU strategy on diabetes, including its prevention, diagnosis and management, as well as education and research, needs to be implemented as soon as possible. According to statistics, by 2025, around 4 million people in Poland will be diabetic. It is therefore clear how important it is for Member States to develop and implement national programmes to prevent diabetes, because this disease is one of the most significant burdens on public health and health care, not only medically, but also socially and economically."@en1
