lpv:translated text	"I strongly support the report on quality management for European statistics. This is one of the prerequisites for the European Union to be able to increase its level of supervision over the budgets of individual Member States. We have had negative experiences with blatant cases of false statistics concerning levels of public debt, as in the case of Greece. Eurostat, which has been in existence since 1953, has therefore rightly gained new powers. These changes should improve the situation in two respects. Firstly, users of statistics will receive more accurate and timely data. Secondly, statistical data will become more readily available to citizens and more easily understood by them. The report therefore deserves our support."@en1
