"I wanted to declare my approval of this report, since I think greater uniformity and better guarantees for the European statistics system are a necessity. We have seen that survey results and economic indicators have an increasingly prominent role in EU policy making, meaning that they need to be collected and analysed in a uniform way across the Member States. Partial – or even false – results can no longer be tolerated. The Greek experience is a striking example of this and now we are seeing the consequences. I therefore hope that greater certainty will help restore credibility and trust in a system that has been severely damaged by frequent mistakes and too much approximation."@en1
