What applies to the states also applies to the European institutions, which must have access to relevant statistics. The quality of statistics at European Union level is, to a large extent, dependent on the relevance of the data provided by the EU Member States. I voted in favour of this report, which calls on the Member States to take the necessary measures at national level to guarantee the production of reliable statistics. The report also underlines the need to adopt a systemic approach to the production of European statistics in order to make them more reliable."@en1
