I believe that this report is too general and does not take sufficient account of specific national circumstances. I regret that the amendment tabled by the Group of the European People’s Party (Christian Democrats), which pointed out that the definition of ‘family’ falls under the subsidiarity principle, was not adopted. A majority of my colleagues have stated their approval of a uniform understanding of the concept of family by voting to uphold the original version of paragraph 7."@en1
