"I voted in favour of this project because I think reaching a mutual legal assistance agreement with Norway and Iceland is fundamentally important. The aim is to improve judicial cooperation between the EU Member States and these two countries, thereby extending to Norway and Iceland rules on mutual legal assistance that are already in force and mostly applied within the European Union. The adoption of the agreement should, undoubtedly, help combat trans-border crime and enhance cooperation with two countries that are already in the Schengen area and, in the case of Iceland, currently in negotiations for accession to the European Union."@en1
