"Madam President, my voting record always shows that I am in favour of the termination of pregnancy under certain strict medical and legal conditions. I am in favour of gay rights and so on, but I am afraid that this report has missed the opportunity for the whole House to be in agreement on the equality of men and women because it touched upon issues of strict subsidiarity, which is not acceptable because it provokes this Parliament to be divided where this Parliament should have been united.
That is why I have voted against this report and I hope that next time the opportunity is offered to deal with matters of gender equality, the subsidiary issues will be left for each society to decide the ethical and social issues that are its concern."@en1
